MCC Film Contest Submission: Redefining Community

  • Date Nov 7, 2012
MCC (Menonite Central Comittee) of Saskatoon held a film competition that awarded 500$ to a film that creatively addressed the topic of "redefining community". Erick Penner approached me about collaborating with him to submit a video, and we did. We brainstormed about the definition of community, and how to convey that. The idea of the identity of the group being changed, as well as the individuals themselves being changed, was what really stuck. We also questioned the role of communities in eliminating loneliness.
We used our friends to help us personify Janga blocks, and act out a dialogue we wrote. And who would have guess it; we won!
Here is the final copy that was played at the AGM Saturday, November 3rd.
