Chantelle and Dayton

The session began with a race against the clock! Dayton had booked the rink for us to shoot in, but because of bad weather my assistant Michelle Dyck and I were late arriving in Lethbridge. As I rushed into the rink in a flurry, I saw the countdown on the big score clock...only five minutes left! This was my first photography shoot with a couple I hadn't met before hand, so I was already nervous. We had to get right to business: stand together, skate over here, centre ice...but Dayton and Chantelle were naturals so we were able to get some great shots before our time ran out. It was a bit stressful, but exhilarating at the same time.
After the craziness we got to get to know each other a bit. Chantelle and Dayton are generous and kind couple who just like to be who themselves, and be themselves together. Their comfortability certainly reflected in the shots.

Our second location was the place they first met: Lethbridge College. In their first year at college they were put in group projects together and just seemed to hit it off. Dayton might have admired her first, but it didn't take long to see that they were a fantastic fit.
At sunset we took pictures around the coulée's. The romantic lighting made rich colours; it finished off the day like a dream. It was a long day of shooting (both video and photography) but it was a pleasure and a delight to be with Dayton and Chantelle who I now call my friends :).
